PRINCIPAL Chief Harry Haihanasi Arufaegwao and landowner of Bina Talifu land Bina Harbour Malaita Province has applauded the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government for launching its policy framework, last week.
Arufaegwao said, that while DCCG has fulfilled its promise by launching its framework policy within the 50 days change in office, he decided to join with other landowners around the nation to acknwoledge DCCG for that.
He said, that this is a good start and he is looking forward to working together with government in ensuring Bina Harbour project is up and running.
Meanwhile, in called on tribal groups and individuals claiming Bina Talifu and Bina Harbour to register or file a fresh local court case.
“This (case) will automatically prove us all the real land owning group owning Bina Talifu and Bina Harbour.
“To make it clear to all competing tribes and individuals, the fresh register local court case was because I (Arufaegwao) and my tribe was a new party haven’t been to any court case regarding both land but we had relevant documents to proof to the court,” he said.
He explained that this is important as any customary land ownership should be first determined by local court chiefs and clerks prior to any other developments.
He admitted that he has met with the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and had talked with him about the long standing 35 years Bina Habour Multimillion free trade zone.
“We have round table talks and I submitted relevant documents to him (DPM).”
Chief Arufaegwao added that for any major development project to operate on Malaita, DCCG must prioritize Bina Habour project first because it’s an international gate way to the Solomon Islands.
“This Bina Harbour MULTIMILLION FREE TRADE ZONE is an International seaport once under full scale operation will boost the economy of this nation through export and import revenue.
“As an original landowner with my tribe (Talifu) we are looking forward to working together with DCCG and the opening of the Bina Harbour seaport,” said Chief Arufaegwao.
