VISALE chief Gaetano Chapavo has called on the public to seek permission before visiting areas in and around Visale, northwest Guadalcanal.
Mr Chapavo said individuals, groups, schools, or any institution wanting to visit the Visale area must make their request known before arriving there.
“I want to clarify here that from now on, if any school from Honiara or individuals want to visit our sites in Visale area, please come and consult with chiefs first,” Mr Chapavo said.
He said most visits were being made to the popular Chiromagati hill.
“I don’t mean to stop people from visiting our area, but as part of respect, people need to get permission first.”
He said at times, visitors get their permission from church leaders only, which is not right.
“The right to visit our area lies with the chiefs, not church leaders.
“Public must know this.”
He said anyone visiting their area without first seeking permission will be dealt with by the chiefs.
