THE People’s Republic of China highly appreciates Solomon Islands firm commitment to the one-China principle.
This was highlighted by the Chinese Ambassador to Solomon Islands His Excellency Cai Weiming.
In an article published in page 9 of this Edition of Solomon Star, Ambassador Cai said China highly appreciates Solomon Islands commitment to the one-China principle and looks forward to working with Solomon Islands for the healthy development of the two country’s comprehensive strategic partnership.
He added that this partnership features mutual respect and common development for a new era and strives for a brighter future of a community with shared future for mankind.
Ambassador Cai said both China and Solomon Islands belong to the developing world and both country’s share a similar path in history and culture and the same pursuit for development.
Therefore, he said, “I am proud to call our two countries partners for building a community with a shared future, and companions for building an equal and orderly multipolar world, and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.”
Ambassador Cai said as an important member of the Global South, China is ready to work alongside with the international community to respond to the trend of multi-polar, and safeguard the rights and interests of developing countries.
The ambassador added that in recent years, China has put forward the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, pointing the right direction for human society leading to common development, lasting peace and security and mutual learning between civilizations, and to work together to address challenges and achieve common prosperity.
And he added that from 27 to 28 December 2023, a Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China was successfully held in Beijing and President Xi Jinping delivered an important address during the conference.
Ambassador Cai said President Xi reviewed China’s major diplomatic achievements and valuable experience, gave a profound exposition on the international situation and made comprehensive plans for Chinese diplomacy for the coming periods.
“The conference highlighted that building a community with a shared future for mankind is the noble goal of Chinese diplomacy, and put forward important propositions such as promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.
“Building a community with a shared future for mankind is the most important solution put forward by China to promote the global governance, which aims to advocate the practice of the common values of all humanity through the pathway of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and jointly build an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world featuring lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity,” Ambassador Cai elaborated.
He said China is deeply aware that many of the developing countries, including Pacific Islands Countries, has been marginalized in the process of multi-polarization and economic globalization, with their interests being largely ignored.
Therefore, the ambassador said China actively calls for promoting an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization to ensure the purpose and principles of the United Nations Charter, the true multilateralism and the principle of equality among all countries regardless of their size must be observed, all forms of hegemonism and power politics must be opposed and the democratization of international relations must be pursued.
“China also advocates that the international community should meet the common needs of all countries and resolutely opposes the attempt to roll back globalization and abuse the concept of security, oppose all forms of unilateralism and protectionism, firmly promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, overcome the structural problems hindering the healthy development of the world economy, and make economic globalization more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial to all, to ensure the developing world could enjoy its equal rights and play its due role in the global governance,” he added.
