SEVEN experts from China’s prestigious Central-South Architectural Design Institute [CSADI] have arrived in Honiara to join their Solomon Islands colleagues in finalising the design for the multi-million-dollar National Referral Hospital Comprehensive Medical Centre.
The NRH’s Comprehensive Medical Centre, being dubbed China’s Gift to the people of Solomon Islands, is being built on the hospital’s east foreshore.
The team arrived in Honiara earlier this month. The design was unveiled in a closely-guarded presentation at the National Referral Hospital last week. NRH’s Chief Executive Officer, George Malefoasi, confirmed having made the presentation, saying it is still “incomplete.”
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and China’s Ambassador, Li Ming, will sign the Implementation Agreement for this project next week at Prime Minister’s Office, according to the Chinese Embassy in Honiara.
The Comprehensive Medical Center Project will be a brand-new addition to the NRH with four floor building which covers the functions of outpatient service, diagnosis, surgical first aid and hospitalisation, and also a Power Centre in the service of the Medical Centre.
