CHINA Red Cross Society through the Embassy of China in Honiara on Sunday donated USD200,000 (SBD1.7million) emergency humanitarian fund to support our government’s earthquake relief efforts.
A statement from the Chinese Embassy said Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare witnessed the handover ceremony while Ambassador H.E. Li Ming and Supervising Foreign Minister the Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka signed the handover certificate.
Ambassador Li Ming said, as a good friend and genuine partner of Solomon Islands, China stands ready to help the government and people of Solomon Islands overcome challenges of natural disasters and rebuild homes.
On November 22, 2022, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Solomon Islands and caused damage to infrastructure and properties. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Primer Li Keqiang have sent letters of sympathies to His Excellency and Hon. Prime Minister of Solomon Islands.
