THE Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to Solomon Islands, Cai Weiming says China through its Province of Shandong is looking to deepen cooperation with Isabel Province for its social and economic development.
Ambassadot Cai highlighted Shandong Province’s intention to deepen cooperation with Isabel Province at a ceremony to handover donations of livelihood material to six communities in the Gao-Bugotu Constituency of Isabel Province at the Chinese Embassy in Honiara last Tuesday.
PRC donated livelihood materials, included two computers, 40 Radios, 40 portable power sources with solar charging panels, 120 solar lights and five fishing nets to the five communities in Gao-Bugotu Constituency.
He said the PRC and Isabel Province already have enjoyed a close relationship since the end of 2023 when Shandong Province and Isabel Province signed a Sister Relationship Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The ambassador added that the Chinese Embassy is willing to offer more help within their capacity to local communities to bring about more tangible benefit to ordinary Solomon Islanders.
“I know you all from Isabel Province. Your province has very close cooperation with China. Looking ahead, China is ready to work with you to further advance our relationship and cooperation and bring more benefits to our two peoples,” he added.
Ambassador Cai also used the opportunity to highlight some of the major projects in Solomon Islands funded through China Aids since China and Solomon Islands established diplomatic relations.
“China aided the National Stadium and SINU dormitories which have become new landmarks of Honiara as well as the Auki Road Tar-sealing Project and the National Broadband Infrastructures which are making a steady progress, bringing more jobs opportunity for locals.”
