MEMBERS of the Solomon Islands Chinese Association (SICA) in Honiara this morning, Wednesday, 1st January joined the country in welcoming New Year 2025.
As part of their celebration the members were divided into two groups and visited most of the Chinese operated shops to perform the dragon dance.
Soon after opening up for business most of the shops’ entrance were decorated with balloons allowing the dance party to stop by and performed.
At each shop, the dragon dance party performed outside and inside the shop. They then moved to the next shop after emerging from the shop.
A spokesperson for the group told the Solomon Star, this is part of celebrating new year with their members and the country.
He said, one of the groups visited shops that are located at the west side of the city, while the other group visited the east side.
Most of the SICA members were excited to receive the dancing party.
Meanwhile, Honiara city came alive on Tuesday night with mass celebration throughout the city that concluded early this morning.
Honiara city witnessed a number of musical performances being staged on Tuesday night at Hammock Beach, Pacific Casino Hotel and at the Ports area as part of the count down celebration to welcome 2025.
In many communities around Honiara the sounds of the plastic trumpets along with beating of drums and playing of loud music echoed throughout the night till this morning.
