A CHINESE couple accused of stealing from another Chinese businessman in Auki, Malaita Province were held up at Auki Police station since Friday.
Information reaching Solomon Star Auki claimed that the accused couple were reported by another Chinese couple who also worked for the same Chinese businessman operating shops in Auki.
This paper was informed that those two couples were working under the same business operating in Auki while the owner who is also a Chinese man is still away in China.
Upon noticing money went missing, the other Chinese couple reported the matter to police which resulted in both Chinese couples ended up at Auki Police station, Friday evening.
While the other Chinese couple who reported the case were released, the couple who were accused of stealing are still held up at Auki Police station.
This paper was informed that the accused couple spent Friday night at Auki police station but were not locked up.
When this paper contacted Auki police on Saturday afternoon regarding the matter, police confirmed that the accused couple were still kept at Auki Police station.
Asked about why the couple were not locked up in jail, the answer given was they are still waiting for the business owner who is still in China to open a case for the accused couple.
In the meantime, the accused couple are still at the Auki Police station waiting for the business owner to open a case against them.
