CHRIST the King Parish at Gilbert Camp, East Honiara has celebrated its feast day, Sunday.
Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia the Most Reverend Leonard Dawea officiated at the celebration and also shared the sermon during the church service on Sunday morning.
In his sermon, His Grace Rev Dawea said Christ the King feast day celebration is quite different from other feast day celebration where they usually celebrate the Saints.
“Christ the King is quite different because here we celebrate the King Jesus as our Christ during his Kingship and his rule over the lives of us as Christians,” he said.
Rev. Dawea said the important message is for everyone to share the Lordship of Christ over their lives including their offices, places of works, in the families, communities, and where ever they are.
Parish Rector Fr. Allen Kali said the parish is so fortunate to have Arch Bishop as their guest of Honour as well as Vicar General Alfred Hou, ACoM General Secretary Abraham Hauriasi including some of the head of churches around and some leaders of their own works of lives living in and around Gilbert Camp.
“We also fortunate to have our congregations from our two satellite churches – the April Valley and Okwala,” he said.
Rev. Kali said they also have the occasion as an opportunity to confirm 74 candidates, 58 from the main church and 16 from the satellite church especially April Valley,” he said.
As the rector, he also calls oo all parishioners to continue to work together to build Gilbert Camp as a community that men and women, girls and boys together live happily
Meanwhile, straight after the main service, they went on with feasting and entertainment which went on until very late in the afternoon.
