GOSPEL sensational Reggae band, Christafari will be touring Honiara next month.
Christafari is a Christian reggae band formed in 1990. It is centered on the personality of ordained religious minister Mark “Tansoback” Mohr, an American, born-again Christian.
Eventually Mohr shortened the name to “Christafari”, (pronounced Christ-a-far-eye) and pieced together his own band members.
According to reports received by this paper, the American based musical group will perform at the Rove Police Field, West of Honiara on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October.
Admission fees for a single show will be SBD$70.00 for adults and SBD$30.00 for children while the admission fee for both shows will be SBD$100.00 for adults and SBD$50 for children.
Local bands such as Oneness Band, Salvation Echoes, Kayman Colcha and many other gospel artists will also be performing as supporting bands.
Gates will open at 2pm and Christafarai will perform at 5:30pm on both days.
This is part of the bands Melanesia Tour, where they will be touring and performing in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea respectively.
Meanwhile, over the past years, the band have had different sets of musicians and today, the remaining band consists of, Mark Mohr (lead vocals, producer and key songwriter), his wife Avion Blackman-Mohr (Bass, background and lead vocals), Makamae Auwae (Background and lead vocals), Obie Zachary Obien (Lead Guitar), Solomon Jabby (Guitar, percussion and background vocals), Justin Nalimu (Keyboards), Tyrone Rudulph (Drums), Jacquie Gaviria (Saxophone), Hidai Sangerman – (Sound Engineer).
