Christmas and New Year celebrations need to be meaningful to each of us while preparing for these two events.
This message was highlighted during the Christmas day celebration at a small Catholic Community in Toghala village, Ranoggah Island, Western Province.
Despite many people celebrating with liquor during those events, the message was highlighted during the celebration for faithful members to abstain from drinking alcohol during prayer hours.
The message also urged everybody to demand that these two events must not be abused by beer, but let Christmas and New Year be a turning point of our wrongdoings.
However, the assistance parish priest cannot visit that area on New Year’s Day due to his commitments in other communities, but her sister community at Pienuna has the privileged to have the priest visiting them during the New Years’ event.
Meanwhile, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations around the Diocese of Gizo were peaceful.
The Holy Rosary parish from Nila Shortland island, Don Bosco parish Taro, and St. Dominic Parish Choiseul who celebrated those events with the Bishop, Bishop Luciano Capelli sdb witnessed peaceful celebration.
The Bishop’s visitation also highlighted the beauty of Christmas promoting the journey for the Synod of the universal Church on Solidarity, on building communion and participation in the mission and the consecration for 93 confirmations candidates, and the new Koliai Church building.
