More than 120 children from six 6 different communities within Asimeuri South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) association took part in the Asimeuri SSEC Association children’s ministry Gudnius club 2016 soccer league.
The opening event of the league was held at Roone Village, Small Malaita on Thursday 30th June 2016.
Association secretary Pr. Laban Lole, Roone local church pastor Pr. Mesach Awa and the association children ministry coordinator Isaiah Wane took part in the opening event.
The theme of the Gudnius club legue was ‘Helping the children to grow wholistically.’
Speaking during the official opening ceremony Wane said, children need to grow physically, mentally, socially and spiritually like any other human being in our society.
“Based on the theme, children need to develop in all aspects of life, they need survival, protection, participation, development and planning.”
Coordinator Wane explained; Sunday school or children’s ministry is an educational church ministry to teach the children about the Christian life in the society.
“Such event like this allows children from other different communities to interact, share, learn, and experience happiness outside from their community.
“The main goal of the soccer league is to allow the children to see and fear God not only in the church building but also in sports.
2016 host- Roone Children ministry gudnius club team captain Charlton Hou Said he really enjoy praying session, Bible quiz, sport and talking to children from different communities. It is my first time to leave my parent and be part of this kind of activity and I really enjoyed meeting children here at Roone.
Coordinator Wane and his executive acknowledged the provincial member for ward 22, Hon Lesley Saru for assistance with the provision of 6 sets of uniforms worth $2,700 towards the soccer league 2016.
The next game is scheduled for 15th August 2016 to mark Malaita’s second appointed day.
The venue will be at Kalona playing field.
The league will end in December at Likimae in the highlands.
