AN Anglican deacon has called on communities in Tulagi and the entire Central Islands Province to take ownership of the renovated Tulagi Hospital facilities by taking care of them.
Reverend Charles Sagulige made the call in his speech at the handing over of the renovated facilities under Phase One of the World Bank-funded Tulagi Hospital Renovation Project and Tulagi Hospital Incinerator Project on Friday 1 November.
Reverend Sagulige thanked the World Bank for funding the project, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services for coordinating the project implementation and the Super Construction Company for implementing the project.
“People in Tulagi and surrounding communities and Central Islands Province as a whole, let us make use of this new hospital facility and take ownership of it.
“We must take ownership of this project because we are the beneficiary of this project,” he said.
Reverend Sagulige said the Tulagi Hospital Renovation Project also provides Tulagi and Central Islands Province with a facelift.
The Anglican deacon, who served as a Public Health Officer in the past, said the hospital renovation works are the third for Tulagi Hospital.
“Today give us the impression that the government is remembering us renovating these hospital facilities.
“On behalf of the communities in Tulagi and Central Islands Province, I acknowledge the World Bank, Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS), Project Management Unit (PMU) and the project constructor Super Construction Company Limited for successfully completing Phase One of the Tulagi Hospital Renovation,” Reverend Sagulige said.
