Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare has reiterated on the floor of parliament that the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) was not here to please politicians, which is a tough truth to swallow.
He was speaking on the floor of parliament yesterday when parliament resolved itself into a committee of the whole house, to consider Motion No.25-Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) 2003-2017.
He said contrary to what politicians perceived on RAMSI the ordinary citizens of this country is RAMSI has become a critical factor in the effort to put things right in the country.
“It must move beyond the restoration of law and order to address the key pillars of nation building, which they have done that to the satisfactions of our people,” PM remarked.
He cautioned that the nation that Solomon Islanders must take ownership of their country and must learn to live together in harmony and take interest in working with government in the common endeavour to ensure this nation attain sustainable development.
The PM stressed that citizens of this country must learn to see the differences as a point of strength.
He said the call is more serious for people in positions of leadership like him, because they have solemn duty to ensure that this country do not allow this nation to slide down the path of anarchy again, by setting in motion for adoption and implementation of fundamental reforms that will encourage the people to become active participants in national efforts to attain sustainable development.
