CITY mayor Alfrence Fatai yesterday met with the Honiara City Council’s Law Enforcement Division.
This is to familiarise himself and to share with them some of the issues that need to be addressed.
“I don’t expect such a respect you have shown today and want to thank all of you,” Mr Fatai told the officers.
“I want to have a good working relationship with the division and also to help address some of the issues which the division has encountered throughout the past years,” he added.
Mr Fatai further stated that the new executive under his leadership will seriously consider some areas that need to be improved within the division.
“I want to assure you that my new executive will ensure the division is well equipped to carry out its tasks consistently and professionally.
“We will help to provide capacity building and logistical support which have been lacking over the years.
“You are the backbone of the Council because you are the ones to make sure all the HCC laws and ordinances are adhered to by the Honiara public, thus these support are very crucial,” he said.
At the same time Mr Fatai urged the Law enforcers to prove themselves in their jobs and must have a professional approach towards their duties and responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the appointed chairman for the Law Enforcement Division Charles Aiwosuga, expressed his appreciation to the mayor for taking onboard the issues and concerns regarding the division.
Mr Aiwosuga appealed to the Law Enforcement officers to display their roles in making sure all the laws and ordinances of HCC are respected by the Public.
Speaking on behalf of the officers, the Head of Division Robert Madeo thanked the mayor for recognising the needs of the division and says they are looking forward to working closely with him and his executive.
Mr Madeo also urged all his officers to continue on with their duties for this year in ensuring the city is regulated with the HCC’s laws and ordinances.
