The Civil Society Organizations open day is set to kick off its 3-day event at the National Art Gallery.
The event is hosted by the Development Services Exchange with the support of Oxfam Solomon Islands.
Development services Exchange is an umbrella organization for Civil Society Organizations in Solomon Islands which has 60 registered NGO members with 9 International, 48 local and 3 affiliated NGOs targeting vast development issues in Solomon Islands.(Education, Environment, Health, Governance, livelihood and other development Sectors).
The Civil Society Organizations Open Day is an event that marks and celebrates efforts and hard work NGOs has contributed towards development of Solomon Islands. The event will also showcase the work of DSE, its members, development partners and stakeholders that promotes the services they deliver in empowering communities and improving livelihood in the country.
This year’s CSO theme is “Strengthening Collaboration with our Partners (Government, Private Sector, Donors and Communities) for Sustainable Development Actions in Solomon Islands”. This theme will be crucial for maintaining the progress that civil societies, the national government, the local government, business sectors, donors and communities have collectively achieved so far, and in particular, for overcoming persistent challenges, to enable Solomon Islands to move forward as a stable and prosperous nation.
Open day activities includes:
– Official Opening Ceremony
– NGO, Business house, government sectors and donor Information stalls
– Child Friendly space(Save the Children)
– Vilig space(SIDT)
– Sports (Stakeholders Volleyball Challenge) and many fun activities for the public.
The official program will start at 9.00am followed by NGO work exhibitions, Child Friendly space for kids, games, village corner and quizzes will be displayed for the public and those in attendance.
The event is open to the public and especially young people and students who are looking to enhance their knowledge and contribute to the Development of the country.
DSE hopes to promote growth of a vibrant and robust Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and sectors in Solomon Islands.
