The head coach of the Solomon Islands National U19 soccer squad, Commins Menapi has assured supporters and soccer fanatics that the injuries of some of their travelling players are just minor injuries.
Menapi made the assurance before their departure over the weekend.
He admitted having some players being injured during the friendly match against Marist FC last week but stressed that they are of no major concern and the players will recover by the time the team’s opening match of the competition against Papua New Guinea U20 side.
“Yes some of the players received injuries during our recent friendly matches but the injuries are not serious, they’ll recover in time for the first match,” he said.
Menapi did also reveal his confidence in the team which he had trained for the past three months.
He despite the short preparation period, he has full confidence this young squad can pull out surprises and have the potential of winning the World Cup Qualifiers.
“I have confidence in the players.
“With New Zealand and Tahiti out of the way, the team has a pretty high chance of creating history.”
Team manager, Leonard Paia reiterated having great confidence and revealed on behalf of the players that they are prepared to give everything into this competition and create history.
