Police Commissioner, Frank Prendergast is currently in New Zealand attending the annual Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) Women’s Advisory Network (WAN) conference.
New Zealand is hosting this year’s conference in Auckland that started yesterday.
Established in 2003 with the goal to support and enhance the contribution of women in policing within the Pacific Region.
It is an opportunity to advance the development of women within police organisations and their progression through the ranks.
Deputy Commissioner, Juanita Matanga said commissioner Prendergast will be attending the pacific conference and will head on to another conference in Singapore.
“He will then proceed to attend the Interpol 2015 Conference in Singapore.”
Interpol is a international connection of policing around the world, working on ensuring policing network is strong.
Ms. Matanga said she hopes the commissioner will gather good and valuable lessons with experiences that will sure be help to the local force.
More so in keeping a close inter-relation between other law abiders in the region and the world as a whole, she said.
