TAKOI Catholic Community in west Guadalcanal has celebrated the remembrance of their patron saint “our Lady of Mount Carmel.”
The celebration brought together more than 500 people in and around Fox Bay area in west Guadalcanal.
This is an annual celebration Takoi community to remember and celebrate the church patron saint “Our lady of Mount Carmel”
In the Catholic calendar Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order.
The first Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid 13th century.
They built in the midst of their hermitages a chapel which they dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, whom they conceived of in chivalric terms as the “Lady of the place.” Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the patron saint of Chile.
Celebrating the holy Mass parish priest Fr Uvens Rapasia said the church is proud to stand under guardian of ‘Our Lady of Mount Carmel’ to help and lead people in spiritual life.
He said Tangarare parish have a number of societies working with the church the like of Sunday school ministry, Mothers Group society and other society within the church.
And for Catholic mothers, ‘Our Lady of Mount Carmel’ is of society mothers always try to live upon as an important role model in their families.
“One of the fundamental area we can touch the life of Mary in our prayers lives is the “Litany of Mary” in the Catholic Church.”
The celebration concluded with a joyful feasting and entertainments program by the community.
Meanwhile three new born children have received the sacrament of holy baptism.
Fr Rapasia acknowledged community members, children, youths women and men for their commitments leading up to the success of the very important day celebration.
