FRUSTRATED community members of Fishing village have expressed disappointment over the ongoing row between vendors and businessman James Fang over the closure of an area along the road used as a market for vendors.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, community members have called on the vendors to stop claiming they are of Fishing village or that the area used is part of the Fishing village market.
“The area along the road from Didao refueling station right up to James Fang’s area is not part of the Fishing village market.
“The market area only starts at the Salo building fish market to the other end where local crops are sold. That is regarded as the Fishing village market.
“The people who have had their tables removed and are continuously demanding compensation from Mr Fang should stop referring themselves as vendors of Fishing village market, because they are not,” a group of fishing village women said.
It has been two weeks since the closer of the area by Mr James Fang with vendors demanding that they be compensated $1000 each for loss of business.
The vendors have claimed that Mr Fang had breached their agreement in agreeing to the vendors continuing market until their newly constructed market facility is completed before they are removed.
The vendors through their spokesperson, Mambo Fangaria have stated the possibility of bringing the matter to court if Mr Fang does not address their demands.
