Three firms have came to the rescue of athletes arriving early for the start of the Solomon Games 2016.
Due to delays in release of funds it was difficult doing necessary catering for the athletes.
But thanks to the assistance of the three companies namely Sol Rice, Victory Trading and Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited.
SolRice has donated a half a tone just to assist the early arrivals. But the company is committed to giving a lot more than that during the course of the Games.
GPPOL has assisted with some food items such as biscuits, noodles, sugar, and bread. Victory Trading offered their new blend of Tea called Solomon Tea along with some sugar.
And like SolRice, these other two firms have committed themselves into rendering a lot more assistance to the Games.
Jill Buchanan of the Solomon Games Secretariat mentioned that the Games Management is very thankful to these three firms for their timely donations.
“These companies a very responsible, they saw the need and were prepared to step in. They are doing it because they believe in what the Government is doing. Solomon Games is an important event and these firms understand that too well that’s why they were prepared to lend a hand when the need arises,” commented Buchanan.
Solomon Games 2016 is scheduled for July 1st to 16th in Honiara. The first to kick off is the mens football followed by boxing a day later.
The official opening is on Sunday 3pm at Lawson Tama and to be officiated by the Prime Minister Manasah Sogavare.
The closing is on Saturday also at Lawson Tama and again at 3pm but to be officiated by the Governor General.
