FIJI Gas has acquired a state-of-the-art liquid petroleum gas tanker worth about $500,000.
The investment would allow the company to make deliveries to their biggest customers, typically resorts on Denarau and along the Coral Coast.
Fiji Gas CEO Peter Lee said they would also use it to make deliveries to their largest offshore clients.
The tanker was delivered earlier this year and recently completed all compliance procedures with the LTA including its weighbridge certificate.
“This tanker will be based at our Lautoka terminal. The extra delivery capacity will enable us to deliver better customer service from our Lautoka terminal,” he said on Friday.
“It will also mean fewer road journeys for our tankers. Fiji Gas has always invested heavily in its terminals and trucks and this is another example. We have the most modern fleet of gas delivery vehicles in Fiji.
“Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Like all our vehicles, this new tanker complies with Australian Safety Standards and is built to Origin Energy’s exacting specifications.”
He said the tanker was fitted with the latest safety features including a rollover switch so in the event the truck rolled over, all the valves locked containing the gas in the vessel.
