Dear Editor – Could you please spare me a column to briefly express my concern on our current Provincial Member for Valasi Ward, East Central Guadalcanal Constituency, Godfrey Raubola.
Four years on the throne is about to lapse.
The people of Valasi Ward are eagerly waiting and wishing to know if the Guadalcanal Provincial Government has ever allocated money such as ‘Ward Grant’ for every ward throughout Guadalcanal.
If it’s true, then where is our share of the cake?
None has been seen or received in terms of goods and services for individuals, schools and clinics.
We only knew he owns an outboard motor engine and canoe, store for him hardware materials for the failed road construction project and high-powered set of tools and generator for building and furniture work.
Now his wife and he are sponsored for further studies at SINU, claiming that Valasi has no school leavers to apply for limited spaces given Guadalcanal Education Authority.
While in fact, a few poor ones are still struggling to get in to the same pipeline. Hoping that a leader like Geoffrey Raubola can wear the same shoes Hon. Lazarus Alfred Rina has worn.
On the same line of thinking, the account for Valasi Ward needs auditing.
And very soon a request will be forwarded to the Auditor General office for that matter to prove the money allocated, when and where it was spent.
You are entrusted as leader and mediator between people and the Provincial Government.
The moral of good leadership counts on two qualities: transparency and accountability. Miserably you are lacking and fail to demonstrate these in your leadership style.
Be reminded, therefore, time is counting down.
Your vision to reign for the third time can only be determined by these qualities, but probably it’s too late.
Finally, the poor people of Valasi Ward are wishing you well for being our representative in the Provincial Government level.
Hoping desperately to hearing, seeing and receiving from you soon.
