The two conflict parties involved in the Independence valley row in White River, West Honiara over the weekend finally reached peace during a reconciliation ceremony yesterday at central police station.
This ceremony was staged to resolve the dispute where few homes were burnt down.
The ceremony was witnessed by members of both parties including high level police officers and the assistance police commissioner for national capital Gabriel Manelusi.
During the occasion both parties exchanged goods and money as part of a compensation to settle the matter once and for all.
Representatives from both parties which spoke at the occasion expressed their sadness and regret for the unfortunate incident.
They begged for forgiveness from each other’s side and promised to stop causing any more problems and let peace prevail.
Mr Manelusi encouraged both parties to respect each other and take reconciliation seriously as the beginning of a new journey.
He thanked members of the two parties for their respect and acceptance of reconciliation.
He added this respect will maintain peace in the family, communities and the country as whole.
He also reminded the parties about the negative aspect of alcohol and that leaders must address the issue in the communities and the country as a whole.
