CHURCH members of St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Central Guadalcanal are being urged to practice the characters of St Vincent in their daily living.
The characters of St Vincent are to help the poor.
According to Northwest Guadalcanal Solomon Star stringer John Toki, the program was attended by 500 people from churches around the area.
“The purpose of this feast day was to encourage people to remember and practice the characters of St Vincent in their daily lives,” Mr Toki added.
Father Clement Geaney who took the sermon over the weekend said, “we are here to help each other.”
“I know that we are poor in some ways but we must try our very best to help each other with what we have,” Fr Geaney said.
“We have a problem and that is when we don’t utilized the talents God has given to us.
“God has given talents to us and we must develop them to help others on this world.”
“Poor helping the poor is what we were supposed to do in order to please God,” Fr Geaney added.
He told the members to practice the characters of St Vincent De Paul as long as they live.\
