The upcoming young Jamaican reggae talent, Conkarah will be flying in next week for his big two night shows in Honiara.
He will be performing at Cowboys Grill on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th October, which is organised by Rebelle Inc and Cowboy’ Grill.
He is currently touring around the world promoting his new album “Tel Dem”.
Honiara is his last destination after the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Indonesia and Australia, before he travels back to Jamaica to begin recording with world class reggae producers.
Conkarah is new to the reggae scene, only beginning his music career after successfully completing University.
When he decided to pursue a career as a recording artist, almost immediately, his immense talent was recognized, and he collaborated with legendary producer, Donovan Germain, of Penthouse Records. Together, they recorded his first single, Rude Bwoy Love, on the hugely successful Automatic riddim.
Since then in the last few years, he has worked with with various European producers, notably, Drifta, which brought the powerful song, Run Away. And in Jamaica, Danny Browne and Niko ‘Lifeline’ Browne.
The father-son duo produced Conkarah’s deeply moving and captivating reggae love anthem – Forever, which became Conkarah’s official debut single. The partnership with Niko Browne also yielded the big tune, No Barbershop, on the Rockfort Rockriddim. The initial success of both songs led to collaborations with popular female recording artist, Denyque, on a track entitled, Addicted, as well as with international dancehall superstar, Mr. Vegas, on a track entitled, A LittleLove.
In 2012, Conkarah performed with a live band on the main stage of Reggae Sumfest 2012 – an event that marked the Festival’s 20th Anniversary and Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary of Independence – alongside international super stars, Damien ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Chris Martin and Trey Songz.
In Honiara the program will begin at 7pm, and has a huge line of all the best local sensations including JAHBOY, Jeeno, Dezine, DMP, 56 Hop Rod, Jag and the Cowboys Grill house band.
But that is not all. To make the night extra special, Rebelle Inc is also bringing in one of the best DJ/producers of Melanesia “Tuff Tumas” from Vanuatu to perform at the event to keep the dance floor pumping.
Rebelle Inc management, is really looking forward to the show and says, It’s going to be a huge two nights of entertainment. Never have we had an international Jamaican artist and an international DJ playing at the same venue over two nights, supported by such a large number of the best of Solomon musical acts!
Cowboy’s Grill is a secure location that has recently hosted “Fiji Veikoso”, “Spawn breezie” and other international acts. The venue is in doors and will not be an open air car park concert. There will be a lot of police and security present on the night.
Rebelle Inc management explained “The tickets are very fairly priced at only $150 each. Normally, you pay $350, but we wanted to make it affordable so more people could enjoy it. The tickets are selling fast, so once we reach capacity on Friday night, we will close the door and say come back on Saturday night.”
Tickets are available at BBQ King, Mambo Juice, Honiara Hardware, Paoa FM, Discount Auto Parts, Cowboy’s Grill and on the streets.
