NORTH Guadalcanal Constituency (NGC) has finally taken delivery of heavy plant equipment from the government yesterday to help with its road infrastructure development.
A ceremony to officially hand over and dedicate those machineries was held at the Pitukoli village in North Guadalcanal.
The machines include three dump trucks and one excavator.
“This is to help improve the lives of rural people,” Minister for the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) Stanley Sofu said.
Mr Sofu told the constituents that their MP Samson Maneka has tried his best for the machineries many times and here are the machines to serve you.
“This is in-line with the DCC policy to address the rural live of people under the transportation rural initiative infrastructure grant.”
Mr Sofu said MID will not able to address feeder roads therefore this kind of idea was to address that.
“I am happy that your MP has done his part and now we are here to hand them over to the constituency.”
Minister for National Unity, Peace and Reconciliation, Samson Maneka described the arrival of the equipment as a dream come true for his constituency.
“I was born and live in this place and yes road access is one of the major problems for the people here.
“Most of the roads here were damaged by flooding like this place.”
Mr Maneka said his aim is to make roads for his people to bring their produces to Honiara and earn money for their families.
“These machineries are like dream come true for me and my people here.”
Mr Maneka thanked the Government for helping his constituency with those machines that will enable them to fix the feeder roads that were damaged many years ago.
