The Miss Pacific Islands reigning queens from the eight (8) Pacific Island Nations together with the current Miss Pacific Moemoana Safaátoa Schwenke on Monday visited the National Referral Hospital (NRH).
They spent time at the Children’s Ward.
NRH Medical Superintendent Dr Janella Solomon and other NRH Senior staff accompanied the pageants during the brief visit.
Dr Solomon described the visit to NRH as uplifting and encouraging for the staff and patients.
“The queens spoke highly of the resilience that our health workers have working in a challenging physical environment which in various ways is similar to the challenges their health workers also face in their small Islands countries and that most of them have family members who are of the medical profession.
“Despite the challenges we face, they are grateful for the sacrifice our health workers made to ensure the services are provided to the people of Solomon Islands,” said Dr Solomon.
She thanked the queens for visiting the hospital and wished them all the best on the remaining days of competition, and the crowning night.
The current Miss Pacific Moemoana Safaátoá Schwenke and the 8 queens thanked NRH management for allowing them to visit and wished the sick patients good health.
They also showed their appreciation to the NRH doctors, nurses and supporting staff for their hard work in ensuring patients are taken care of.
Eight countries are participating at this week’s competition. They are host; Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
The crowning night will be held this weekend.
