The Solomon Islands national U20 men’s football team will take on Cook Islands today for their second group match of the OFC U20 Championship.
The match will be played at the Lunganville Soccer City Stadium in Vanuatu at 12pm today.
A win for Solomon Islands will put them in a more comfort zone of making it into the second stage of the competition, the top four playoffs.
Solomon Islands currently has one point from the 2-2 draw with Tahiti in their opening match.
Head coach, Pedro Mateo was impressed with the result of the first game saying it will help lift the boys’ morale for the remaining group matches.
He said the boys were told to avoid such mistakes made in the Tahiti match adding such mistakes if made can lead to concede goals.
New Zealand currently leads group B with three points from its win against Cook Islands.
Solomon Islands sits on second place and Tahiti on third place both with a point each.
New Zealand will take on Tahiti at 3pm today.
