Coronation Christian School is now planning towards upgrading its infrastructure to expand its secondary classes with forms four and five classes.
The school principal Adrian Dorovia said the school is now working on a proposal to upgrade its secondary intake.
“That is to enrol into forms four and five specifically in the years to come,” Dorovia told parents and guests at the school’s graduation ceremony held at St Barnabas Cathedral hall last Wednesday.
He said this will fall in line with the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development’s (MEHRD) proposed plan for non-examination of year six and year nine classes by 2020.
He said as a school they will be working collaboratively with the Coronation Living Word Education Authority and the MEHRD to address issues and to achieve the education goals through the national education action plans.
Coronation Christian School (CCS) currently enrols 1015 students.
“We appeal to the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development for the possibilities of raising Coronation School to a level nine school,” Dorovia said.
He said a letter of request has been sent to MEHRD but they are “still waiting a feedback”.
Wednesday’s graduation ceremony was for the school’s grade six and forms three students.
The school principal said “today (Wednesday) marks a successful completion of one stage in your life development as you strive for excellence through the leadership of Coronation School”.
“Always remember that you have been empowered and your skills and knowledge will be greatly needed to enhance and contribute to the welfare of this country Solomon Islands.
“Similarly, your next destination will confirm to you by the MEHRD through National Examination Standard Unit (NESU) by January 2017,” Dorovia told the graduates.
Dorovia also thanked parents, guardians and supporters of the school for their support and contribution towards the school’s development programme this year.
