HONIARA City Council is currently on a 100-day programme, reorganising, reviving, reinforcing, and strengthening weak areas they need to work on
Mayor Alfrence Fatai said the 100-day programme covers key specific areas identified by his executive and that need to be strengthened.
“This is the beginning of changes that we want to see happen during the next four years,” Mr Fatai said.
He added key areas that need to be seriously reorganised are the employment and tender boards.
“We also want an open office that will ensure council officers work transparently and that financial records be audited properly.
“This is to allow strengthening of the organisation so the council can start new and proper on a new page.”
Mr Fatai added another important factor to consider is the revival of existing bylaws that have never been enforced.
“This is vital towards running a healthy city, thus stakeholders, households, individuals and everyone living in the city must prepare to be part of this.
“It is just the beginning, and slowly but gradually we will ensure that all necessary key areas required to be strengthened and re-established are attended to over the course of time,” the mayor said.
