THE Honiara City Council Law Enforcement Division has established a working partnership with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
This was discussed in a brief meeting held by the Law Enforcement Division and the Provincial Police Commander for Honiara City Police on Friday.
Chairman of the HCC Law Enforcement Division Charles Aiwosuga said this is a new direction taken to maintain a strong presence of officers in the city.
Among many issues discussed, one of the immediate tasks is the 7 meter by-law which the Council will be strictly imposing as of February 1.
“Honiara City Council in partnership with the Honiara Police will be working together in ensuring the 7 meter Ordinance is successfully imposed,” Mr Aiwosuga said.
The chairman said he appreciated the cooperation and asked the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to assist the Council through the partnership agreed upon.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Police Commander for Honiara City Supt. Jack Balaga said he really appreciated the new partnership.
“I want to re-assure you (HCC) that the partnership established is part of a new direction towards the change that we want,” Mr Balaga said.
“I would also like to ask the public for their cooperation and also to be more observant with their behaviours in the City,” he added.
Sharing the same sentiment, the Head of Division for the HCC Law Enforcement Robert Madeo also expressed his appreciation towards the new partnership with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
Mr Madeo said his division is looking forward to working closely with the Honiara Police in every operation that will be carried out.
HCC communications Bureau and the Law Enforcement officers have been conducting awareness on the 7 meter Litter Ordinance throughout the city this week.
HCC staff also cleaned up their headquarters to serve as a model for others to follow suit in abiding with the 7 meter by law.
