HONIARA City Council (HCC) says the “Betelnut Control Ordinance 2016” will be re-tabled in its next executive meeting.
This is according to Deputy Mayor and Chairman for Law Enforcement Charles Chekah Aiwosuga.
Aiwosuga said the decision is part of the council’s efforts to move forward with its policies and reforms.
He said the ordinance has been deliberated by the previous government and is still yet to go through its final stage.
“The Ordinance is to restrict or control the sale of betelnut within certain zones in the city,” Aiwosuga explained.
He thanked the City Clerk Rence Sore and the management team for implementing new reforms within the cty which has been effective.
The deputy mayor thanked the public for complying with HCC and urged everyone to continue help keep the city clean and environmentally friendly.
