The court case involving a man who alleged to have repeatedly rape a teenage girl at Gizo, Western Province this year, has been further adjourned to give time for his lawyer to get instructions for plea.
The man from Western Province who cannot be named to protect the alleged victim’s identity was charged with six counts of rape.
He allegedly raped the victim on various dates early this year at Gizo.
The accused appeared in court on the last occasion and his matter adjourned to Monday to confirm whether he already has a lawyer.
A lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s Office Henry Kausimae on Monday confirmed allocating the matter to one of his colleagues.
He however said he has no instruction from his colleague but understood some disclosures have been received.
Principal Magistrate Shepherd Lapo further remanded the accused in custody and adjourned the matter to September 1.
Crown Prosecutor Maito’o Hauirae appeared on instructions of his colleague Sirepu Ngava on Monday for the State.
