Bangladeshi awaits judgement
THE Bangladesh national accused of indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl in 2020 and trespassing onto a private property in 2021 at Lungga, east of Honiara, will know his fate on December 6.
That is when Deputy Chief Magistrate Ricky Iomea will deliver his judgement.
The trial conducted on the matter has concluded
The accused allegedly committed the offence of Indecent Act in 2020 when the alleged victim was just 17 years old.
In 2021, he again allegedly Indecently touched the same alleged victim’s private body part.
On the Criminal Trespass charge, it was alleged he followed a girl at night to the house of the complainant to ask another girl who resided in the complainant’s house to come to him.
The complainant however reported to police that the defendant trespassed onto his private property at night.
The defendant has engaged Bond lawyers to represent him, whilst Public Prosecutor Myrella Cleven represents the crown.

Russell murder accused to be given new counsel
THE matter of a man accused of the murder of his cousin brother at Russell, Central Province, in August will be re-allocated to another lawyer in the Public Solicitor’ Office.
This was after a lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s office whose name was listed as Jonathan Felega’s lawyer never turned up in court to represent him.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Ricky Iomea therefore directed that this matter be re-allocated to another lawyer in the Public Solicitor’s Office.
Jonathan Felega is facing one count of murder.
This is in relation to an allegation that occurred at about 1am on 11 August this year on Moe Island in Russell, Central Province.
It was alleged Felega and his young nephew were on their way back to Minisi village from Sagelua village when they met the deceased coming towards them holding burning wood.
The deceased was walking along a road besides a cliff.
Felega allegedly went and assaulted the deceased before throwing him down a high cliff.
Thereafter, Felega went down the cliff to the deceased and wiped off blood from him before seeking assistance from fellow villagers.
