CRICKET PNG’s disability programme for 2014 has begun with an induction into how to communicate with people with disabilities and how they should be dealt with.
The programme began last Wednesday and ends this week.
The disability programme comes under the new “Kriket Blo Olgeta” umbrella that aims to: make the game accessible to all; create development; acknowledge people with disabilities; establish relationships with various non- governmental organisations.
The Kriket Blo Olgeta programme targets women’s cricket, multi-cultural cricket, village cricket and traditional cricket.
Cricket PNG invited NGOs such as Cheshire Disability Service, Callan Disable Persons Service, the Red Cross Special Resource Centre and St John Blind Services to conduct training and raise awareness on dealing with people with disabilities.
The first week of induction training was completed successfully with training focused primarily on the introduction into people with disabilities.
The launching of the programme will coincide will World Disability Day on March 29.
