The Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) officers over the weekend have farewelled the outgoing Commissioner Francis Haisoma with a guard of honour been mounted at the Correctional Service Headquarter in commemoration of his long and dedicated service in the force.
Speaking during his official parade Haisoma said on the 12th January 1984, he joined the Police Training School and now he is 35 years in the force.
“I deserve to retire and explore on other things in life. Now I will leave with no regrets and highly appreciate the opportunity that was given to me during my tenure in office as your Commissioner,” he told the officers.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Operations Michael Nagu said it was an honour and a great pleasure, as they bid good bye to their very good Commissioner, an exceptional leader and mentor who retired from the active service.
“You will be remembered for the great things that you have done not only for this organisation but for every staff in the work place.
“Thank you for all your support and encouragement, you are the best leader we have ever worked with. Your many contributions to our success are immeasurable. You have contributed immensely to CSSI success in so many ways.
“It is no gain saying that it will be difficult for anyone to surpass the good examples that you are leaving behind,” said Mr Nagu.
He added the outgoing boss has put in great efforts in instilling values, such as determination, tolerance, equity, kindness, honesty, patience and professional skills that are needed to get on with the job even in his absence.
“You have worked assiduously; now it is time to enjoy all that you have laboured for all over the years and live life happy without any stress.
“As you join the seniors of this great country, I pray that God continues to grant you sound health, mercy and blessings. And may you find life after retirement a happy moment with endless sweet memories.
“On behalf of the organisation CSSI and my colleagues, I wish you good luck and full success in future endeavours,” said Mr Nagu.
The official program ended successfully at the Police Club with a farewell function, gift presentation to the outgoing commissioner and colourful cultural entertainments from officer’s ethnic group.
