Dear Editor – Please DCCG, do not send any more local students to study medicine in Cuba. Cuba graduate doctors are a disgrace to the profession.
Their parents and guardians might disagree but I think that’s a fact because I have witnessed it firsthand.
As an admitted patient, I am very fearful when they treat me unsupervised. It is even very amusing when they swarm around senior doctors and writing down notes like students again during ward rounds. Wat nomoa olketa go fo lanem?
I think we should stop sending anymore students to Cuba and just send them to PNG and Fiji. They are still over best resources from Health Minister, PS, US’s right down to the interns.
Also close down the SI Embassy there and recall our Ambassador. He is there only as students preceptor, nothing else. Very costly keeping him there.
