BANK South Pacific (BSP) customers accessing banking services in Gizo, Western Province continue to call for the installation of more Automatic Teller Machines (ATM).
Since the beginning of December access to ATM remains high especially during the influx of people returning to the province for their holiday break.
During the pay-days, the demand for ATM service remains high.
And this is no exception last Thursday when hundreds of people have to queue up the two ATMs at Gizo.
Last Thursday was the payday for all public officers such as; Police, Teachers, Correctional Officers and other private companies.
And standing for hours at the queue has frustrated many customers because of the two ATMs that were there, only one was working.
The queue even reached the main road.
And therefore there was renewed call last week for BSP management to consider expanding its service by installing several more ATMs other the township because the population of Gizo and the province is expanding.
BSP is the only banking services currently operating in the province.
ANZ has pulled out of Gizo more than a year ago.
A teacher from Rannogga who is also a BSP Customer said its time consuming just to stand on the line before accessing the service.
“We all know each year the population is increasing therefore access to such important services must also be increased to meet the demand.
“We really need professional, quality and reliable service,” he said.
Many customers expressed that it would be better that if the BSP management to consider improving its services this year.
Gizo has been busy last week with hundreds of people from the nearby islands coming into to their shopping before the New Year.
A visit by the paper saw many outboard motor (OBM) berthing at the various seafront.
Along the streets, the public just rushed here and there doing their final shopping.
Gizo is expected to be packed again this week and the coming weeks as hundreds of working people and students will start returning to their place of work and school.
