A MAN who was tried for sexually abusing his 16-year-old daughter on five occasions in 2021 has been convicted of the offences.
High Court judge, Howard Lawry, had found the dad guilty of the charge of Persistent Sexual Abuse.
The victim and her aunt testified in the prosecution case, whilst the defendant remained silent and did not call any other defence at the trial.
The trial was held in a closed court.
At the end of the trial, Justice Lawry adjourned the matter to today for the sentencing submissions and mitigation.
The alleged incidents occurred in east central Guadalcanal in 2021 and reported to Police on 12 August 2022.
Frank Brenan Kama of Public Solicitor’s Office represents the defendant, whilst Public Prosecutors, Martha Mutukera and Geitaba Waletofea, appear for the Crown.
