SOLOMON Airlines 32-seater Dash8 aircraft has resumed its normal service as of last Wednesday after being grounded for about a week to undergo routine maintenance.
The aircraft was grounded on Wednesday 31January, leaving a number of the domestic routes affected.
The aircraft normally serves routes like Lata, Kira, Munda and Gizo.
During the aircraft’s absence, Twin Otter aircrafts serviced its routes.
An officer from Solomon Airlines close to the situation last week confirmed the grounding of the aircraft.
“Yes, Dash8 was going through maintenance,” the officer said.
On Wednesday 7 February, it resumed its daily flight to Gizo and returned to Honiara.
One of the passengers onboard the flight George Pitakoe confirmed the Honiara-Gizo return flight.
“Yes, Dash8 to West this morning. It was cleared to fly this morning (Wednesday),” he said.
Dash8 had been very busy during the peak holiday period between December and January providing extra services to the traveling public.
