Former President of National Sports Council Solomon Islands (NOCSI) Charles Dausabeahas called on the Civil Aviation Authority Solomon Islands (CAASI) to build the terminal at Tingoa airport on Rennell, Renbell province.
Speaking to the Solomon Star Dausabea said Renbell will host the Solomon Game in 2018 but poor preparation like none release of fund from the government and failure by CAASI to build a terminal in preparation for the national sports event is an irresponsible attitude from relevant authorities.
Dausabea who visited Rennell last week to establish a branch of Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Trade for Solomon Islands said lack of terminal for the airport at this time seeks urgent respond from CAASI and Ministry of Aviation and Communication.
He said Solomon Game will kick start next year in Rennell but the airport is very risky, since movement of people besides the airfield can result in serious accident due to non construction of any terminal.
He added that CAASI and Ministry of Aviation and Communication have agreed to upgrade Rennell airport within their plan, therefore it is high time, since the smallest province of the country is preparing to host the national event next year.
