The DCC government’s policy formulating team has assured members of social media pressure group Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) that their top ten priority points will have formed an integral part of the soon to be launched government’s policy document.
The assurance was made during FSII members’ presentation of their Top Ten Priority List at the Prime Minister’s office today.
Special Secretary to the Prime Minister, Rence Sore told FSII members that his policy team was encouraged by the presentation and would ensure that all the ten points raised by the civil society group would be catered for in the government’s policy document.
Mr Sore said his team welcomed the initiative from FSII to convey their most important priority points to the government and would ensure that their concerns will be incorporated into the government’s policy actions when the policy document is translated into action during the DCC’s government’s term.
FSII group presentation concluded with the handing over of the Top Ten Priority List document to the government’s policy formulating team.
The document outlines that the most pressing priority areas for the newly elected 10th Parliament of Solomon Islands is Public Sector Reform, strategic economic development and attention to the country’s infrastructure.
While education, health, employment creation, employment conditions and investment attraction are indeed significant challenges facing the country, members of FSII have identified the need for a restructure and refocus of government activities, especially the need to regulate government funding in favour of more income producing reforms that will provide for more day to day service provision and micro economic adjustments.
In receiving the document, Mr Sore encourages FSII members to continue promoting proactive national advocacy towards change and good leadership.
Mr Sore said the government’s policy formulating welcomed the FSII’s initiative to directly convey the concerns of their members to the government.
Mr Sore assured FSII members that the DCC government is ready to assist the social media group in their vision and will continue to engage with the group to ensure that the voice of its citizens are translated into policy actions.
