THE Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government has been urged to prioritise tourism industry in the country.
Gabriel Diau, a public officer said the current government must seriously push for the development of tourism in the country.
He said, tourism is one of the dynamic industries that once government injected much support into it will obviously boost the country’s economy.
“This is one of the Ministries that can sustain and enhance the economy,” he said.
Mr Diau revealed that 24 cruise ships will be touring the country (SI) this year but it would be meaningless once government knows nothing of its purpose.
“If we want the economy of this country to change as desired, then tourism industry must be prioritised.
“I urge the government not to forget increasing the budget of the responsible Ministry in its sitting over the budget this month,” said Diau.
He added that if DCCG has no strong policy then employment will be a big problem in the future.
“Government by now should value its human resources because they are assets of this country.
“So it’s appropriate for DCCG to inject much support and prioritise tourism industry as it will create job opportunities and heighten the country’s economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Diau call on the DCC government to show us where the economy of SI is heading.
“How it will strengthen the country’s economy and tell us where in the budget that to be passes after the sitting this month will fulfil all its policy statement.”
