Dear Editor – Having read all that concerns the current DCCG, I also wish to make a contribution targeting the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance for their poor performance in managing the affairs and finances of this nation to an extreme which led to this nation running low in cash flow.
This nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of the DCCG is three quarter losing its credibility and only warrants the leader to step down as he is not capable enough to lead this nation.
His day one in power was not proper as he was not a wing leader. He was on his own when he took up Prime Ministership.
In reality this is just one man party leading our country. The citizens of this nation are too blind to see or so coward to unveil it and so this nation is ruled by minority or one-man party.
He was sacked by the party president at one time but he still clings on to power and turns around and went as far as formally terminating the president of the party he was linking to.
Whether he realises or not he had signed the termination letter to sack the President of the party.
The Prime Minister was closely associated with the MEF since the unrest and he was the MEF’s candidate to the PM’s post.
In 2006 soon after being blessed by the MEF, he took up leadership and began applying nepotism by appointing his own nephew to be the chief of staff within the PMO.
His nephew was a little Joseph in Pharaoh’s palace by gaining dominion over every ministry and became bitter in his actions in all ministries.
His case is a bit different as he was self promoted. He acted as if the DCCG is his private business.
This was one of the contributing factors that led to the down fall of Manasseh Sogavare in 2006.
He thinks his nephew is the only person fit for the post of the chief of staff and again getting his nephew in to the job.
This time he added one more of his relatives. He is none other than the director of the Nazar, who piped funds into the PM’s account, through rental of his house.
When complaints were raised against him for his action, the Prime Minister uses the Caucus as a cooling fin.
The PM’s short sightedness in accepting the NAZAR and SKY investments is another mark of incompetency.
The Solomon Islands Ports Authority saga and now the fishy mining company in a different colour but the same pig.
This pig might have already eaten up some of the parliamentarians with shares in the company.
With regards to the key line ministries, is the PM genuine in his decision to have the six key line ministries manned by only one Province?
This nation needs to know why this is so.
The key line ministries are the Prime Minister’s portfolio, the Ministry of Planning and Aid Coordination, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Rural Development.
Is this fairness Mr Prime Minister?
It is also my wonder as to why for the last 14 years Malaita was never considered for the post of Prime Ministership?
We had other provinces taking up the post of Prime Ministership except Malaita.
Is that because Malaita has very small population and also produced no good leader?
Keeping Malaita in the deputy PM’s post for the last 14 years painted a different picture.
In the history of Solomon Islands the two best Prime Ministers come from Malaita. They were late sir Peter Kenilorea and late Bart Ulufalu. Yet Malaita continues to be marginalised.
Under the leadership of a Prime Minister from Choiseul, this nation is almost running on its knees in terms of finances.
In allowing the DCCG to complete its term is a big mistake, very short sighted and very greedy.
Whether the period is short or long it is not the issue.
The issue is bad governance which must come to an end to save money from being spent by non functional regime. Also to go down in record that it is a bad regime. Why should we allow their continuation in power when the Minister of Finance deceived this nation that this nation’s finances are ok when this nation is down crawling on its belly? Mrs. Ethel Sigimanu as a PS, tell me if you know how many Prime Ministers of the past sent their wives overseas just to shop and return like Hon. Prime Minister Sogavare?
Our students both overseas and locally have suffered financially because of the arrogant attitude of the Minister of Finance. The financial tightening spending excused by the Minister of Finance when more overseas trips continues to occur and attending medical attentions in St Vincent Hospital is nonsense .
Today the reserve basket is now used. That’s a nasty thing to do. Mr, Minister of Finance is this a flourishing sign or stable economy? Keeping the Hon. Minister Snyder Rini by the Prime Minister is a clear sign of self interest ignoring the nation’s well being.
With the NPF, the government is making use of the people’s money in the NPF just like the foreigners in the past. The NPF could now be seen as SI reserve,
The 85% contributions of the NPF are Malaitans. Wisdom is that this 85% contribution must be removed to Malaita before the government and the foreign investors drained the funds out to zero or members should now step and control their own money to disallow another person else to decide for them.
DCCG, the followings are before you to address:
1. The Guadalcanal Bonafide demands
2. The lost properties
3. The legal rifle owners
4. The loss of business
5. Boarder allowances
6. SC’s claims.
If you cannot now address these issues then the call for you to step down or dissolve government is the only wise thing to do.
On the Red house during the time of Hon.Dunny Phillip and former Hon. Gorden Darcy Lilo’s terms, Hon. Sogavare was one of those who opposed renting and living in private houses. Hon Sogavare is even worse off as he lives in his own house. May be very shortly he will be moving to his another palace in Tasahe and rented both. Hon Sogavare finds himself eating in the same plate.
May I recall to some of his sweet promises to Malaitans. On March 18th 2015 in respond to the Malaita Premier’s shopping list speech, the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare responded with an emotional high cracking squeaking voice, saying “IT CAN BE DONE”. Malaita Hon. Premier, has all been done?
Malaita has been deceived with development by past governments until now. Deceiving Malaita just for support to rule the nation for your own pocket is very wicked of a leader and greatly contribute to the already curse that this nation has continue to encounter.
The national projects for Malaita must not be mentioned by all 50 members because they all contribute to the failure which led to the non implementation of the Malaita national projects. However thanks to the DCCG for the toilet project at New land Island which totally changes the lives of the people there making life is a bit easier today.
The Hon. Member for Makira, calling for dissolving of Parliament is good however no one will support the dissolving of parliament in fear of their pockets. However the PM and the Minister for finance should be removed for their poor performances and unproductively.
Malaitan MPs who supported Sogavare today in the GCCG were said by the PM in 2014 that Malaitans have burnt his figures already. If not for the sake of self interest and pocket, they should just walk out from him. He is eating his own words.
