TWO Ministers will decide on when the Family Protection Act 2014 should be put into effect.
They are ministers from the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family affairs and the Ministry of Justice.
Pioni Boso of the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family affairs highlighted this in a gender equality forum recently.
She said, the Ministers will approve on a date to when this law should be effective or implemented.
She added thats why the remaining months are important to raise awareness on that piece of legislation.
“We need to implement that piece of legislation to make sure it touches the lives of women in all rural communities.”
Ms Boso pointed out the law hase been passed in parliament last year but it needs to raise awareness on the Act and consult on the FPA’s implantation strategy.
Meanwhile, domestic violence and violence against women and children are now criminal offences because parliament has passed the Bill and has become a Law.
