LAWYER representing the bus driver who allegedly hit and killed an elderly woman whilst she was crossing the Honiara Highway last October will be making a no case to answer submission on Monday next week.
This came at the conclusion of the prosecution case on the trial of Patrick Maetalulu yesterday.
Maetalulu is on trial for one count of Causing Death by Reckless Driving before Deputy Chief Magistrate, Ricky Iomea.
At the end of the prosecution case, Bobby Harunari of Public Solicitor’s Office said he will be making a No Case to Answer submissions next Monday.
Public Prosecutor, Hellen Naqu, called three witnesses at the trial for the prosecution case.
Maetalulu was charged after he hit an elderly woman along the Honiara Highway, near the Saint Barnabas Cathedral on 11 October 2022.
He was allegedly driving along the outer lane of the two westward-bound lanes when he suddenly hit the pedestrian who was in her 60s
After the incident, Maetalulu and few bystanders carried the woman into the bus and rushed her to the National Referral Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
