NORTH West Guadalcanal constituents have expressed appreciation to their Member of Parliament (MP) Bodo Dettke for his recent support to road transport in his constituency.
Solomon Star Northwest Guadalcanal Stringer John Toki revealed that during the handover ceremony at the Ginger Beach, a total of 11 two (2) tonne trucks were delivered to the communities.
Mr Toki said one of the Sagalu ward constituents Elijah Uro Junior, said he was really happy with the support as it will help farmers to transport cocoa, copra, fish and other markets.
Mr Toki quoted Mr Uro as saying transportation is one of the difficulties faced by the constituency and those trucks would really help the farmers and communities.
Meanwhile Mr Toki said Mr Dettke during the ceremony has promised to deliver another 13 more vehicles for the constituency.
He said not only that he will also provide very shortly five hundred bicycles mainly to for students who are living far from their schools.
“The bicycles will be distributed to Tandai ward as Sagalu ward has already received their share,” Mr Toki said.
Mr Toki said Mr Dettke in his speech said the trucks are mainly for farmers and each community has their own committee who is responsible to look after the vehicles.
He said apart from farmers, the 11 vehicles will also to support schools and churches in their programs.
