The Weather forecast Division of the Ministry of Environment and Meteorology has called on members of the public to dial the free toll number 933 strictly for enquiries on information about weather conditions only.
Chief Weather Forecaster officer Fred Ferah sounded the warning after a number of people took advantage of the free-toll telephone number to abuse the communication system.
Ferah said members of the public must show respect and dial the number to access information about weather conditions only.
He said the Weather Forecast Division had come across incidences when those who abused the system dialled the number for all kinds of conversations not related to weather and to some extent used offensive language to the officers manning the station.
He said the use of abusive and offensive language over the phone, often discourages officers on duty from taking the calls, thus depriving genuine callers who want information about prevailing weather conditions.
