MALAITA Province Youth Council President Philip Subu has expressed strong support for the Digital Village Initiative (DVI) Project at Namobaula in Central Kwara’ae.
Mr. Subu made the comments during the official launch of the DVI Project at Namobaula last week.
The agriculture-oriented initiative aims to empower rural farmers by providing digital access to agricultural information, online resources, and services that will enhance farming productivity at the village level.
The launch was attended by Dr. Samson Viulu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and Douglas Yee, representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of Solomon Islands.
Through collaboration, hard work, and persistence, the DVI project has successfully established and equipped a facility with laptops, a TV screen, a camera, 50 chairs, smart design tables, advanced digital conference equipment, high-speed internet, and e-learning tools.
This facility aims to connect Namobaula village with other parts of the country, the region, and the world.
Mr. Subu expressed gratitude to the FAO and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock for choosing the Namobaula community for this project, which he believes will significantly aid young people, especially in the Central Kwara’ae region of Malaita.
He encouraged the youths to take good care of the facilities, noting that they will contribute to community development.
“I am really happy because this project will help young people in Malaita learn new ideas in digital technology,” he added.
